Vegas with the Ladies!

Most of my grad school friends live in Houston, so we rarely all get together.  This year, we decided we would go on a girls trip together, and what better place for a girls weekend than Vegas?!

Now, "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," but I can't help but share some of my favorite pictures from the trip.

Egyptian Pose since we were staying in the Luxor

We had a great time, and almost everyone walked away with a little extra cash in their pockets!  Til' next time, Vegas!

Hockey with the Ogles

On a random Tuesday this month, we decided to go to an Allen Americans hockey game, and our sweet friends, the Ogles, were able to join us!

They are always entertaining games, but we knew we would have fun regardless with these guys.

Even baby girl Ogle was excited and got the hiccups!

It was a close game, but we ended up losing in the last minute (literally!).  Still a fun weeknight with friends!

St. Patty's Parade Day with the Muellers

On the Saturday closest to St. Patrick's Day, there is always a parade on Greenville in Dallas.  I had always heard that it was pretty crazy, but I had never been.  Some of our good friends live on a street nearby, so they had several friends over to celebrate and people watch!  We enjoyed some delicious barbeque (thanks, Brian!), tasty treats (thanks, Tiffany!), and some great company.

After lunch, we sat out on their front porch and watched people go in every direction - whether it be looking for the concert, the house party, or their cars!  We had a scary moment where a guy passed out walking across the street near their house, but he was okay - just had a little too much fun.  Probably the most traumatic thing we saw was the horse of the cop that stopped to help the guy.  I will spare you the details. ;)

It was a lot of fun people-watching, and I must admit that I was glad we did not have to be in the middle of all the chaos to experience it!

Mexican Scramble(d) Eggs

This past Friday, we had our ABF Game Night at the Goodings house.  We had tacos (delish!!) and played Mexican Scramble.  When trying to figure out how to play, I was told "it's like Spades!"  it's like Hearts!"  "you rotate like you do in Bunco!" so it took a minute to figure out what was going on.  Lucky us, we had the lovely Anna to walk around and help the tables and be scorekeeper.

Just when we got the hang of it, the rules changed!  We played with our spouse as a partner in the first round, but then rotated partners and tables based on whether you won or lost the hand.  Every hand had a different trump or rule, so sometimes you wanted to win, and sometimes you wanted to lose!  It definitely kept our minds scrambled, but it was addicting.

People were allowed to enter their scores on the honors system, but Anna always double checked knowing how competitive some people were. :)  Even though our spouses were not our partners every hand, our scores were added to get our team total.  It seems like nearly everyone was in the lead at some point, but the Cooks ended up taking home the prize and bragging rights!  Colin and I ended up in second - woo hoo!!

The next day, Colin decided to take me out to breakfast at Main Street Bistro for a change of pace.  We were greeted by the pastry cases filled with ah-mazing looking creations and an aroma of delicious coffee and decadent delights!  We were seated right away, and our food could not come fast enough!

Colin had the Uptown Eggs Benedict (poached eggs on salmon with holandaise sause and hash browns), and I had La Parisien (scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and a big flaky croissant).  It was such a fun treat to go out to breakfast with my hubby!
