Aggies Return to Aggieland!

Colin and I are so blessed to have fellow Aggie friends that understand our love for Texas A&M.  We decided to make a weekend trip to College Station with the Zellners and the Goodings to visit some of our favorite places and enjoy a basketball AND a baseball game.

First stop - DONUTS (before we could even get out of town).  Of course, the girls rode together so we could chat, and the guys rode together so they could...talk guy stuff?  Who knows.

As soon as we got there, we headed to an Aggieland favorite - Blue Baker!

After lunch, we headed to campus to walk around.  We all had some fun under the century tree before heading to the Memorial Student Center (MSC).  It is AMAZING to see how much has changed over the past couple of years on campus.  Yet, some things will always be the same!

After our tour, the girls headed out to do a little shopping (and have a little fun!) while the boys picked up Chase's old roommate so he could join us for the basketball game.

 

The basketball game went into QUADRUPLE overtime, and we ended up losing to Tennessee.

 

Afterwards, the Zellners needed to head back to Dallas because Ray was running in a marathon the next day (crazy guy!).  The Goodings joined us at one of our favorite places - Fish Daddy's for a strawberry swirl margarita, some jalapeño hushpuppies, and delicious seafood!  Yum!

 

The next day, we had a light breakfast at the hotel, and went to "the ring" at the Association of Former Students.  We had to get some pics at this (fairly) new landmark on campus!

 Afterwards, we headed towards Antonio's Pizza for a "snack" before the baseball game.  I had a (boring!) Chicken and Cheddar slice, while Colin gave Steak Burrito a whirl.  Yum!

The baseball game at Blue Bell Park was so fun!  I just love all of the involvement from the student section.  We had our share of fun taunting the Pepperdine pitcher... "ball TEN...ball TEN!"  It was a perfect day to be outside.  Ice-cream on the cake - having Blue Bell ice cream at Blue Bell park!  If only the Ags could have pulled a win, it would have been absolutely perfect!

Before heading home, we stopped at a new restaurant, Sully's.  Their 'thing' is chicken and waffles, so that is what Colin had.  I opted for some chicken little's since they were previously Fowl Digits - yet ANOTHER chicken finger place in College Station.  The food was great, but the service...not so much.

It was a great trip with some great friends.  Hopefully, we can make it a tradition!  (You know how much Aggies love our traditions!)

Last night, we went bowling with our ABF at Splitsville.  We had a great turnout - 16 of us were able to make it!  Splitsville was busy as usual, so we had a decent wait even though Colin and I got there early to get our name on the list.  Luckily, we were all content chatting, and the boys were able to play pool to stay occupied.

Once we got our two lanes, we got down to business - or so we tried.  I do not know if any of us had a great bowling night, but it was a great night nonetheless!

Afterwards, some of us went to dinner at Chili's.  The Hjtertstedt's came and joined us so we got to hang out with (more like try to hold on to) a very bouncy baby Westin!

Valentine's Day Weekend

Colin and I have never been big on celebrating Valentine's Day since our dating anniversary was so close (February 11).  All I ask for on that day is to not have to cook dinner.  I always tease Colin about getting Raising Cane's (my favorite as of late) every time we need to grab a quick bite.  Lucky me, they were having a BOGO box deal for Valentines Day.  I was a happy girl!

To really celebrate, Colin took me on a mini-getaway Friday night.  After work, we packed up our bag and headed to Frisco! We went to dinner at La Hacienda Ranch.  I had never been, but it was DELICIOUS!  The fajitas were so tender! 

 

Afterwards, Colin took me shopping for some house stuff.  His favorite was the mustache magnet we saw at Kirklands.

 

Then, we went to Half-Price Books where we found a book to help us plan one of our trips this summer!

 

Saturday morning, we got up early and had some Starbucks before heading to the movies to see Safe Haven - the new Nicolas Sparks movie.  Going to a chick-flick is always what I want for Valentines - just NOT on that day.  I am not a fan of the crowds.

Bowling with my HR Team

Last week, our HR team had a bowling event.  Some of us wore our "bowling league" shirts (actually, they were 'Fujitsu Day' shirts from last year...long story).  We may have looked like pros, but our skills said otherwise.

I actually had a personal best score - 115!

We decided that this time was our "practice round" and we would need to do another team event there now that we had brushed up on our skills. Regardless, we had a great time hanging out outside of the office.  Hopefully, more of our team can join us next time!

Girls Time & Guys Time

The guys in our small group decided that they should go on a camping trip, so for the last few weeks, they have been planning away.  It was funny to see the different approaches the guys were taking - some had spreadsheets, others would rather just talk about it and hope they remembered to bring everything.  Either way, us ladies were excited they were going to get some good "guy time," and give us an opportunity to have another girl's night!

The boys left for Tyler State Park on Friday afternoon.  They made it in time to setup camp before dinner.  As for what they did the rest of the evening - who knows.

Meanwhile, I made last minute plans to have dinner with Denise and Erin at BJs.  Afterwards, we went back to Denise's house to watch a chick flick.  

Saturday, the boys awoke to a beautiful sunrise.

That day, they went fishing and on a brief "hike" and enjoyed hanging out with one another.

They made steaks for dinner, and answered questions that us ladies had prepared for them.

Us ladies met at Anna's house where we had pizza, dessert, and lots of great conversation.

The boys had come up with questions for us to ask each other, which were very thought provoking and humbling.  We were quite impressed, and spent the majority of the evening answering them!

Colin and I both had a wonderful weekend with our friends, but it was so nice to be back in the same house.  (I think Colin was especially grateful for our bed after sleeping on the ground for two nights!)  I have said it before, and I will say it again - these friends are such a blessing in our lives.  We do not know what we would do without them!
